October 2021 MGVC Newsletter

COVID-19 Pandemic continues. NO MGVC PARTIES in October.

Nothing regarding COVID-19 really has changed since the September newsletter. Last week there was an average of 142 cases per day in Dane County, but cases were trending upward toward a peak. They are now trending downward off of that peak. The number of people hospitalized with COVID in Dane County hospitals was stable, with an average of 84 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Dane County hospitals each day.

Public Health Madison and Dane County couldn’t confirm if there would be another extension of the Masked Mandate, but referred to CDC recommendations which stipulate Covid transmission rates should be “moderate” to get rid of masks. This past week in Dane County there were 150 cases per 100 thousand people, rates considered “high” by the CDC; to move past “substantial” and down to “moderate” cases would need to be 50 per 100 thousand. PHMDC said they use a combination of factors in addition to level of transmission which include case rates, vaccination rates, hospitalizations and deaths when making decisions about orders. Just over half of the cases were infections after vaccination (breakthroughs), but the age-adjusted rate of cases among not fully vaccinated people was 3.4 times higher than the rate for fully vaccinated people. Doctors say a better road map for the future is difficult to determine because of the nature of the virus.

We will continue to monitor this rapidly changing crisis and will update you once the state, federal, and world organizations deem it safe to end quarantine protective measures. In the event that we do not reach herd immunity by November, we may still resume the parties by REQUIRING FULL VACCINATION TO ATTEND. It is therefore important that you get vaccinated if you wish to participate.

IF ALL GOES WELL, THE VIDEO CLUB PARTIES COULD POSSIBLY RESUME AGAIN ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH . CHECK BACK IN NOVEMBER.

We thank you for your patience and continued support.
