September 2021 MGVC Newsletter

The 4th Covid-19 surge from the Delta variant has me very concerned about resuming any group activities in the near future. Planned startup dates in August and September have been postponed at least until October. A newly issued Public Health Order (see below) precludes any parties in September anyway.

I have a conflict with the first weekend in October, so I am tentatively scheduling the October parties for Saturday, October 9th and 23rd. Proof of vaccination (see below) will be required to enter all future parties.

Proof of vaccination: You must be fully vaccinated or show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test.

1. Documentation of vaccination status must be shown upon entry to the party. Acceptable is a physical vaccination card (which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine and date of last dose administered) or a photo of your vaccine card stored on a phone or electronic device.

2. Participants not vaccinated are required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result from within 72 hours prior to the party, usually as a printed document from the test provider or laboratory. You will need to be re-tested before each party.

You should self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms before coming to the party, and to stay home if you have COVID-19 symptoms or if you have had contact with a person with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.

I do not want to check vaccination IDs at every party. We do not have formal memberships, so I am proposing to maintain some level of anonymity by associating proof with your email address. When you attend your next party, your proof will be noted and you will not need to show it again in the future. To save time, you may wish to attach a photo of your vaccination card to an email and send it to the club beforehand (mail@ mgvc.org). Once recorded, the email and attached photo will be destroyed. [It is a good idea to store your photo on a cell and use it instead of the original card -- you will be needing it a lot for concerts, restaurants or bars.]

New Public Health Order Issued for Dane County Requiring Face Coverings Indoors

[According to a study by researchers in Madison, some vaccinated people infected with COVID-19 in Wisconsin in June and July had as much virus as newly infected unvaccinated people, meaning they can also readily spread the virus. As a consequence, this Public Health Order has been issued.]

Effective on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 12:01am, Public Health Madison & Dane County is issuing a Face Covering Emergency Order, which requires that everyone age 2 and older wear a face covering or mask when in in any enclosed building where other people, except for members of the person’s own household or living unit, could be present. This requirement applies to all of Dane County. The order will be in effect until September 16, 2021 at 12:01 a.m.
